Hi,
does anyone use the site?
its a braille book sharing site where members can exchange books for free.
I'm personally adding books from my library frequently.
Are they hard copy or electronic Braille books? I don't really have room for hard copy Braillebooks, so any sites that have electronic Braille or BRF books are great for me.
I haven't tried it, but if I can get rid of some braillle books I have it'll be better than throwing them away
Cool that I found this topic; I was just going to post about that site. *smile* I just found out and signed up for it today. I like it, but the only thing I wish they'd let you do is post the number of available books you have. Right now, I have available the Conundrum puzzle magazine, but I actually have way more than just one copy of it. Well, they're different issues but the same magazine. I'm also planning to post more Braille material on there that I'm looking to give away.
For the person who asked whether the site is about electronic or hardcopy Braille, it's for hardcopy Braille.
Sounds like a nice resource. While we're at it, it'd be interesting if a new medium were developed for preservation. Not uncommon for pressed Braille in large tomes to lose it's contrast. I don't know what else to call it, but where the dots fade.
I've seen some music over the years where the dots were nearly unrecognizably, except maybe by someone who's never got their hands dirty with a good day's work.
Thermoform used to be an option, don't know if it still is, but there are so many forms of polymer and other plastics, one would think they'd be imprintable and certainly they wouldn't fade so fast.
A digression, yes, but perhaps one worthwhile.
